Best Hainan Chicken in Singapore - Boon Tong Kee

I never miss a chance to add some famous restaurant in my to-do list in of my business trip. Work always be so stressful and food is my best therapy. This time I decided to visit one of the best Hainan Chicken in town.

Hainan Chicken is popular dishes across Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia. This food is adapted from Chinese immigrants originally from Hainan provinces. In my hometown, Hainan chicken (Khao Man Kai) is available in many restaurants and street hawker stalls.

Even though Hainan chicken are prepared in accordance with traditional method,  there are some small different details in each country. In Thailand, Khao Man kai is serve as one single dish with garnish of cucumber, chicken blood tofu and fresh coriander, along with bow of clear chicken soup. Singapore style chicken rice, where Hainan chicken i. considered as national dishes, dishes serve with fragrant rice and spicy chilli sauce, with. ginger paster. In some places, they offer roast chicken or braised chicken in soya sauce for a different taste (I still prefer the simple boiled chicken).

We arrived at Boon Tong See (Balestier Branch) around lunch time and the restaurant was already packed out with local. Luckily our local assistant made the booking and ordered food for us 1 day in advance. Thing I like about this place is an extensive menu that goes beyond chicken rice, there  was something for everyone on the menu ( One of my team members doesn't eat chicken and the other one doesn't eat any meat at all). You can check up their menu online at http://boontongkee.com.sg/balestier-branch/.

Dishes were served quickly on our table and the staff were so helpful. Their signature boiled chicken is tender and juicy. Unlike the chicken rice in Thailand,  Chicken here chopped in large chunk with skin and bones still attached. Rice here was fragrant and. not too oily comparing with the others shop. In case you are watching your weight, you can order just simple steamed rice instead of traditional oily rice. Oily rice normally cook in chicken broth and vegetable oil, so there give you high calories.

Our stir fry vegetable was cooked in homemade style with  oyster sauce based. Our imperial pork was a little bit too sweet but it was ok with rice.

Our assistance ordered chicken feet soup for us because they contained collagen. which benefit for younger skin. The soup was full of flavour but I didn't try the feet part. I had a bite with this part of chicken before in Dim Sim restaurant, the texture similar to pork cracklings and it didn't impress much.

In overall, this restaurant gave us a great dining experience memorable and we would definitely go back there again.
