Mae Ngao River - 3 days 2 nightsCanoe camping experience in Thailand

Today, I will share you one of fascinating canoe camping destinations in Thailand where you can rent a canoe for a couple days and sail it along the river from one village to another village in the north of Thailand. The total distance of sailing for three days is about 50 km (32 Miles) and the total cost per canoe is about 6850 THB or 250 dollar (Fitting 2 to 3 people per Canoe).

Me and my brother began our  Journey at Mae Ngao national park early in the morning, I appointed with village group leader here. They packed the rental canoe and camping gear in the pick up car and drove us to one village on the top of the mountain. The road trip was taken about 2.30 Hrs. so we got there by noon. I had my quick lunch which I prepared since early morning at this point.

After packing all of my belonging into the canoe (limited less than 50 KG per canoe), our real journey began. In this trip we had a couple of dry bags and large cooler for our 5 meals. We also bought our own life safety jacket, manual water pump and mat pad which we found very useful for this trip.

The scale of difficulty river over here, I would say it s 3 out of 5 in some areas. If you do not have any experience with canoe, I would recommend you to get the an assistance to join in the trip with you. village people know the best about their river and it would help to go through wild parts of river.

Our first canoe camp ground was about 4 Hrs away from beginning point. It was a nice spot near the village without electricity or toilet. We can see the a lot of stars at night and good mountain view in the morning. It was a little bit cold at night (10 c to 15 c in November) and perfect weather in the day time.
We went through a small villages on the following days and we saw a village people life. I could see people in village went for fishing or working on their farm a long the ways. The river was clear and I could see a reflection of everything. Some parts of the journey, I felt like I was just floating on the river.

The second camp ground was also same condition as the first one but it had a great spot for swimming.
I bought a water filter for this trip for reducing weight and reducing the trash. We bought a lot of meats, vegetable and soda in our cooler so we organised to eat fresh every meals. The camp base are safe and very clean. There were no phone reception for entire of this trip. we can see village people work on their raft at the camp site. People pack their crops and rafting to market near by for selling.

We went back to our car park area about noon of the third days. We returned the canoe and say goodbye to river.
